In the early days E.S.E specification machines were very particular about the exact shape of the espresso pod, grind and tamping. The original Briel, Euromatic, SGL, Turmix, Unic machines were all designed with the same head design and were picky.
Later it got sloppy and lots of machines used a classic ground head, adapted for pods by mainly replacing the bottom filter basket to fit the bottom half of the pod.
All the pods we sell will work on ESE machines.
Be carefull, not all pods sold as ESE pods on the internet will work with all ESE machines. If you have a true ESE designed machine, you better stick to ESE Certified or true Specification pods. Some people consider ESE pods as a generic size pod (45-43.5mm) that will fit in your portafilter.
You will soon discover that it is not the only requirement to have a great espresso pour. Making ESE pods is a very involved process, with a single machine costing well over 1 million $. Only the big boys can afford that.
Our advice is try to sample as many pods as you can and let the quality in the cup and your taste buds decide.
